There was some good stuff here, but nothing as great as the first half of the book. Armageddonor Armageddon: If you like 20th Century history, you must read this book it is both informative and rewarding in its reading. We will chop it up, fly the pieces, and reassemble it.
We didn’t treat them like they would expect from a conqueror, but with respect and then rebuilt lein country through the Marshall plan. Poles are rowdy drunks. The most innocent assume the guilt. This book is a armabeddon piece of writing that tells the story of the reparation of Germany after WWII by the big four allied powers. He addresses the events uirs an American and Russian points of view, which is a bit different from any similar books I’ve read before.
The climax is the Berlin airlift that followed the Russian blockade of the Western side of the city, leading to the forty-year division of East and West Germany, East and West Berlin. R over coveted Berlin.
Uris uses a cast of characters to explain some of the human dilemmas that occupation after the war created for bo I found that this was not necessarily pleasant reading due to the subject matter. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
A City of Broken Glass. They are still as accurate today as they were then. There were actually two main guys. I am still not sure because they all sounded like they were the same guy who was talking as if he was heavily sedated.
I also found it interesting that the Uirs nations felt the Americans did not know how to “conquer” properly, and their rationale for that. As with most historical novels, Leon Uris changes the names of the primary players in this historical setting.

I just wish we could add an epilogue forty years later with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Some is pure exposition describing events and attitudes, some follows the history of various characters and how life in the US, Russia, and Germany affected their attitudes and their stations in life, and some follows the personal relationships of characters and how events affect them.
